Property for sale (real estate) in Cape Town, Mouille Point Some useful information regarding Mouille Point located in Western Cape, Cape Town
Mouille Point
Mouille Point, lying just north of Sea Point, is a well-heeled suburb with a number of gorgeous apartment blocks and short-term accommodation for tourists.
Much like Sea Point, Mouille Point has a promenade that runs along the coast, which is popular with walkers and joggers, and a stroll along the scenic walkways makes for a relaxing family activity
The village of Mouille Point, which lies between Granger Bay and Three Anchor Bay just outside the centre of Cape Town, is a bit of a conundrum in the sense that this now upmarket suburb - mainly a host of apartments overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Robben Island and Lion’s Head - is most famous for its lighthouse, which is actually the Green Point Lighthouse.
The Mouille Point lighthouse which is the oldest active lighthouse in South Africa having operated since 1824. The oldest operational lighthouse in the country is often used as a landmark by locals when giving directions around this part of the mother city. Its white and red stripes stand as an obvious milestone on Beach Road in a suburb that was originally developed in the 1940s as an answer to Rio de Janeiro’s big city developments. It didn’t have quite the desired effect and the residents of Mouille Point settled for living in a less-fashionable part of Cape Town, until the boom of recent years. The now eclectic mix of deli, hair salons, spa and boutiques gives Mouille Point a flavour all of its own and the added attractions of the golf course, the sea side promenade and the sports and sailing clubs based on the nearby Common have made Mouille Point quite a sought after address in the modern Cape Town. Mouille Point is only minutes away from the V&A Waterfront and the centre of Cape Town with its vibrant Long Street, trendy Kloof Street and the many museums, galleries and nooks and crannies
